Music Director:  Tim George

Bassist Tim George was raised in Manhattan, Kansas where he began playing the drums at age 6 but was always drawn to the sound of the bass. Some of the artists that he has performed with include: Ray Charles, Bobby Caldwell, Chuck Loeb, Jeff Lorber, Rick Braun, Richard Elliot, Kim Waters, Mindi Abair, Nick Colionne, Euge Groove, Paul Taylor and Peter White.

Event Overview

The Uptown Music Festival is a community focused fundraiser benefiting the University Area CDC. Our 2nd anual festival continues to encourage visitation to the University Area and to be a conduit for cobranding the University Area and the Uptown District, while simultaneously raising much needed support for the
University Area CDC.


Over 1,000 people of all ages are expected to attend this years Uptown Music Festival and we are confident we will continue to grow this number yearly as more people become engaged in the area and want to be involved in emphasizing the importance of community and economic development of the University Area /Uptown District.

Uptown Music Festival

The Uptown Music Festival was created to bring the Uptown District of Tampa, FL together to highlight the rich culture of the area through music. This one-day event will draw Tampa residents and surrounding cities to the Uptown District for a day of music and art to benefit the programs and services of University Area CDC. With over 20,000 residents living in unincorporated Hillsborough County, and major institutions such as the University of South Florida, Moffitt Cancer Center, Advent Health, and Uptown Mall (University Mall) the festival is quickly becoming one of the premier cultural events in the area.

This outdoor event, held in the beautiful University Area Park 14013 N. 22nd Street, Tampa, FL 33613 will be a fun and relaxing evening for the whole family to enjoy. Reserved seating and General Admission available. Children 12 and under admitted free in General Admission with a paid adult admission. General Admission is lawn seating, so bring your outdoor chairs and blankets to enjoy a great music and art celebration.

The Uptown Music Festival will have a limited number of vendor opportunities available. It is our intent to provide our audience with a variety of quality merchandise vendors to be a part of the Uptown Music Festival.

As part of the Uptown Music Festival it is our desire to create a space where artist will have the opportunity to display and sell original art during the festival. We have limited this opportunity to 3-4 exceptional high-caliber artists.

If you would like to volunteer with us at out festival, we would love to have you! Volunteers mest be approved by us prior to the festival so please click on the link below and fill out our Volunteer form.

General admission tickets are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the event. Reserved seating tickets are $50 in advance, $60 the day of the event.

- Children 12 and under do not require a ticket.
- For children 13+, a ticket is required.
- We also have a KIDS ZONE
This family-friendly space on the lawn is the picture-perfect place to lay out a blanket and let the kids run and play. Kids Zone will also feature Prodigy Moves, arts and crafts, and live performance activities. Children 12 and under admitted free in General Admission with a paid adult admission.

University Area CDC’s Uptown Music Festival is committed to providing a space that is safe, gratifying and positively memorable for all attendees. In order to make this possible, we have the following regulations in place to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy their experience.  We are asking that all attendees adhere to this code of conduct: 

*Be respectful. Hate speech, offensive language and/or gestures along with any excessively distracting behaviors will not be tolerated.

*Fighting, violence and the possession of firearms/weapons by individuals other than law enforcement will not be permitted.

*Uphold everyone’s inherent human dignity. 

*All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older at all times.

*Any illegal activities are still illegal on our premises and are subject to corrections.

*Most importantly, enjoy yourself! 

*Limit One Bag and One Chair Per Person

*No refunds or exchanges. No exceptions.

*Show is rain or shine. All ticket orders are final

*No coolers, outside beverages, food or open containers containing liquid

*No unauthorized/unlicensed vendors

*No unauthorized solicitations, handbills, sampling, giveaways, etc.

*No tailgating

Our Mission

For over 20 years, University Area CDC (Community Development Corporation) has championed positive change in the economic, educational and social levels of the community through youth programs, adult education, affordable housing, workforce and resource assistance, and community engagement. The University Area CDC is a 501(c)3 public/private partnership whose mission is children and family development, crime prevention and commerce growth. Our primary focus is the redevelopment and sustainability of the at-risk areas surrounding the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida.
